The Kingdom of God Enlarges as a Mustard Seed
“Then He said, ‘To what shall we liken the Kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it? It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade.’” (Mark 4:30 NKJV)
Parables are given to those who do not have hearing ears to the Kingdom of God but the mysteries of this glorious Kingdom are given to the children of God. Here, Jesus gives the mustered seed as a type of the Kingdom of God. The whole principle has to do with the growth and the outcome of the growth of the Kingdom.
It is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, for sure. That is, in comparison to all of the things that we see in our lives, the Kingdom is the smaller of the windows (“picture”) through which we gaze, in our every day life. I use the term “windows” because Jesus said that when you are born again you shall “see” the Kingdom of Heaven. The point is “seeing the Kingdom.” You see, as with all seed, it is even possible to sow the Kingdom of God. It is sown by revelation that is “seeing.”
The earth that these great seeds are sown into is our hearts and lives. This Kingdom then grows into the largest of all the other plants of our hearts and it shoots out it’s own large branches, or realms. The birds of the air are likened to the angels that have been sent with the blessings of God to “perform His Word” in our lives. These angels make their abiding place (nest) in the atmosphere (shade) that the Kingdom itself has created.
Our finance is the only measurable aspect of the Kingdom of God. However, all the other aspects of the Kingdom are the same in these matters. This is the major reason why it is important to God that we prosper: So that we may have the revelation of the working of the Kingdom of God in a measurable and substantial way.
Now let us consider that the fact that Jesus Christ is your LORD. He is your KING and His Kingdom is His rule and reign. Since He is Lord, which means that He is your supplier of all of your sustenance, then all that you have has come from Him. If all that you have has come from Him, then that which you have has come from Heaven. If it has come from Heaven then it has the life of God in it. If all that you have has the life of God in it, then when you plant it as a seed, this King will eventually rule and reign right there where you planted it.
Now the principle of sowing and reaping is a Kingdom principle that has been placed in all of the life of creation. I often teach about the life of God as having effervescence and is moving at all times. Let us remember that the life is in the blood. But what happens to life when the blood stops moving? Death, or perhaps dormancy. With this principle in mind we can easily see that your money is not truly yours until you spend it, and your money is not truly God’s until you give it. It is simply dead or dormant until you put it to work.
If the Kingdom of God is compared to a seed and your money is also compared to a seed then we must see the likeness in how both grow. Your wealth grows like seed. Because you have received your wealth from the Lord, your wealth is a substance of the Kingdom of Heaven.
The real principle that is contained in this teaching of Jesus Christ is that the biggest investments in the field of life may not be from the seeds of the Kingdom but, because we have planted the seeds of the Kingdom in that same field of life, when we check on the field later, the Kingdom has grown to the largest portions and has taken over the field!
The Kingdom of God moves by the application of faith. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen.” We must see, by faith that which cannot be seen by natural means. If by this “picture” of the Kingdom, we can see that our financial seed has the life of God in it, then when it is planted, the life of God itself will cause the growth of the Kingdom and the harvest will be magnificent.
If you were to look into Heaven right now, could you see any poverty or lack? No. That is because the will of God is being done in Heaven. The will of God is the life of God and the activity of His heart. God’s will is a moving substance that is teeming with life! Because “God so loved the world that He gave. . .” we can see how the principle of the life of God works. When we give the life of God, we destroy the works of poverty. When we give the life of God, the will of God is being done in that seed. That seed will grow larger than any other seed on the earth!
Wow! That’s worth shouting about!
