Early to mid Spring of 2017. Not long…
From the author:
Like most who search the Old Testament for its signs and wonders, I have centered much of my study on the life of David. David truly was a sign and wonder to all of mankind. I had the notion long ago that in order to know more about the Son of God, Jesus Christ, I needed to know Him as the son of David as well.
My studies have been astonishing. There is a David that is a shepherd and remains so throughout his life. But the same can be said about, David the singer-musician, David the prophet, David the king, David the warrior and strategist. But the center of who this troubadour really was is David the worshipper.
Rabbis of old say that David sought after spiritual perfection. After my own deep studies of the life of David I do not believe that. I don’t believe perfection was in David’s heart for it is menial in comparison to what David actually longed for. Psalm 119 is the longest Psalm and chapter of the Bible. It is a chart of progressive steps to David’s ascent into the Presence of Yahweh. The Presence meant more to David than anything else.
From the Presence a mere life is guided in greatness. David knew that when he penned, “The steps of a man are established by the Lord, and He delights in his way.” And, “The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip.” Psalms 37:23 & 31 (NASB) But greatness was not the goal it was the fruit. The heart of David was filled with longing love for the Presence.
David’s words of ascension to the house of the Lord always have the goal of reaching the Presence in the deepest of unbridled worship.
Psalm 122 is title in the Hebrew text as, “A Song Of Ascents. Of David. It is a prophetic song that comes from deep and intimate worship in the Presence. It is the past, the present and the future together. The central stanza of the song is the strategy for heavenly liberty and justice.
This book is just in time. It is for
