Because of the incredible growth of the Internet, aptly called the information highway, it is easy to be left out of the know of what is going on in your world. The Internet has now become the central way that information goes to and from the people of this planet. No longer does the news wait for you to get to it when you come in from a hard day’s work and sit down in front of the TV.
We need to know about way more than just what the syndicated news is telling us!
The World Wide Web is so big that you simply cannot go surfing to every website to see what is going on. So, thank God, there is an easier way that has been invented: It’s called RSS or Really Simple Syndication.
Since it’s name infers its simplicity, we will tell you in non-technical language how to make this Really Simple Syndication work on your computer so you won’t miss being “in the know.”
There are important things you need to know about. Your favorite news room puts out news continually. There are sales you are waiting for coming from your favorite online store. There are ministries that are accomplishing the works of Jesus Christ around the globe – you need to know about that.
It’s your world and you need to be a good steward of what God has given you!
The scenario, then, is that you have these websites that you need to keep up with. You need the information that they put out to the public and you don’t want to have to go surfing every website for changes. So, first of all you need to decide where you’d like to gather the information that those websites publish. We suggest two ways: 1) your email client, or, 2) a common reader.
If you use Apple Mail or Microsoft Outlook, those programs that you retrieve, read and organize your email in are called “email clients.” Both Apple Mail and MS Outlook will retrieve RSS “feeds” from publishing websites.
The other common way is to have a reader collect the published information for you. All you need to do is set up an account with Google, Yahoo, Microsoft Live, etc. The reason why we say “etc.” at the end of that list is because there are lots of them out there and we don’t even know how long the list of readers could be. The easiest that we know of is the three big ones: Google, Yahoo & Microsoft Live.
These are free and you don’t have to pay for an account. You get an email address, an online email client, and you get a reader for your RSS (Really Simple Syndication) of published information.
If you get your email with an email client or an online provider like Google, etc., you are ready to start getting RSS feeds. If you need to set up those accounts, then you must do that as a first step. Now, although “RSS” stands for Really Simple Syndication, we think an easier way to think of it is I’m Ready for Some Stories. It is a way for you to get a quick list of the latest story headlines from all your favorite websites and blogs all in one place. How cool is that?
It is important to notice this orange icon with the quarter circle waves in it’s center. When you see an icon on a website like this one, you know that the site has an “RSS feed.” You can be fed by real simple syndication from this website to your inbox or reader that you have already set up. Or, you are Ready for Some Stories.
This Icon means RSS
This is another obvious icon variant.
We think that one of the easiest ways to get your RSS feeds all in one place is through the use of a free service from Google called Google Reader. Here’s a short little video showing you how to utilize Google Reader and what its all about:
Once you have set yourself up with a reader, go to these websites and get Ready for Some Stories.
* Patrick Holloran posts prophetic words that he’s received from the Lord on his site: Go here and find the RSS icon
* Wayne C. Anderson posts new teachings and stories on his site several times a week: Go here and find the RSS icon
* Pastor Rick Wilson posts videos of apostolic decrees and prophetic pronouncements on this site: Go here and find the RSS icon
* Marketplace Apostle Rich Carey runs a 7-Mountain Strategy website that links to news stories dealing with each of the 7 mountains: Go here and find the RSS icon. Rich also has an apostolic commentary on the news of the day: Go here and find the RSS icon
* And in addition to all of that, there are prophetic and apostolic words given by world-renowed prophets and apostles on sites like the Elijah List and others on a daily basis.
* You may also go to Fox News or any one of the typical media publishers for the same kind of RSS feed
* You can go to stores like Kohl’s at www.kohls.com and click their daily ads and an RSS is right there so you don’t miss a sale
* You can even go to personal/travel/happening sites, like Lacey Anderson’s “Girlwithcurls-JustVisiting” blog site: Go here and find the RSS icon

Irene is now interested in blogging so I started to look at it again. Learning the ropes and realizing the issues of writing and placing and organizing and techno stuff.
I’m going to archive the old articles here, because I can now. That is, technology is available to let me do that.
My plan is to run my tweets, profile updates, and YouTube videos into this collection spot. The thing that you’ll want to especially keep your eye on is my itinerary. You should try to be in the meetings when I’m in your area… ha (Click Here and bookmark)
I’ll try to blog short, long & medium copy and I’m hoping it will be exciting, informative and even enhance your learning curves a bit.
My question always is: “Is Jesus really enough for you?” I ask myself that all the time. It would not hurt for you to do the same…
