From Heaven’s Courts: When You Pray, Say…

by

The Lord’s Prayer empowered…

“It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples.’” (Luke 11:1 NASB)

Several Greek words in the New Testament translate into English as the word, prayer. Generally, these words have different meanings and applications.

The two most common are petitioning prayer (Greek: deomai) this word is few in occurrences in comparison to the most prominent announcement of faith, (Greek: pros–seuchomai)

1. Proseuchomai is the application of prayer that changes things on the outside.

2. Deomai is the application of prayer that changes things on the inside.

To understand what Jesus was teaching His apostles concerning prayer, we need to understand that, “It’s in the Greek!”

“And it happened as He was praying (proseuchomai) in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said to Him, Lord teach us to pray (proseuchomai), as John also taught his disciples. And He said to them: When you pray (proseuchomai), say (lego)…” (Luke 11:1-2 LITV)

The courts of our Father in heaven is where Kingdom authority comes from to be made manifest upon the earth. You cannot “say” (lego) to the mountain to be removed and expect it to be obedient without first having the authority of the Creator proclaiming an act of His justice. When the King of glory, the Creator of all, issues His judgment of things upon the earth, that justice becomes the “word of faith” in which we “say” to this mountain, “Be taken up and cast into the sea.”

So, when Jesus said to them, “When you pray, say…” I do not ever want to invalidate silent “thought” praying, but in this case, the Master said to “say” and not think your prayer.

In context with the time of Yeshua’s ministry, He had been teaching His disciples about the Kingdom of God by parable and example. Now, He was exampling the Kingdom of God, and His disciples were asking for Him to teach them about the kind of prayer that moves the Kingdom of God into operation and has the effects that the Lord Himself desired to take place upon the earth.

His instruction was for them to “say” and, in the apparent context, I believe He wants an authoritative command of justice. The word “say” or λέγω (lego) in Greek can mean command, but it needs a context to translate it accurately. This all brings us to “heaven’s courts” where justice will prevail, and commanding power of decrees are made from the Presence of the King and Creator of all things.

The principle phrases that Jesus gives to us, as His lesson in Kingdom dynamics, are then authoritative statements of Kingdom courtroom protocol. This instruction is not dissimilar from Yeshua’s “Sermon On The Mount” teaching on prayer, and so I combine the two passages to show the fullness of the Kingdom proclamation.

I have labored over both the Greek & Latin translations, combining the Hebrew studies of idiom – figures of speech – and the cultural Talmudic understandings that influence the Kingdom teachings of Jesus in this scripture:

Matthew 6:9-13 {Author’s translation}

“Then, pray you (by commanding presence) ‘Father of us, Who is in the heavens, Your name is set/established here as holy. Come! Kingdom of You. Let be done! The will of You. As in heaven – also on the earth! The bread of us daily (idiom about the manna of the wilderness) give unto us today. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive the debtors of ours. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil. Because of You is the Kingdom and the power and the glory to all the ages (ions).
Amen.’”

I believe that there is a combination of authoritative commands and discourse in the Presence of the Creator, as acts of justice coming from heaven’s courts to the earth. The protocols of heaven’s courts, when followed according to the scripture, allow for just decisions from the King to even overwrite the integral plans of earth and creation. The rule and charge of the Lord of Creation is powerful and can re-write the course of DNA signatures or move a star into place in the universe to accommodate His justice. When the Creator judges and decrees a thing, that voice of His decree is carried out by angelic hosts, apostles, and the people of faith who have aligned themselves with the protocols of heaven’s supreme courts.

Jesus gave what is called “demarcations” of prayer in this powerful teaching on Kingdom dynamics and faith declarations that cause that which is seen to be moved by the unseen.

The following is a list of the 12 significant demarcations of the Lord’s teaching on the decrees of prayer:

  1. ‘Father of us,
  2. Who is in the heavens,
  3. Your name is set/established here as holy.
  4. Come! Kingdom of You.
  5. Let be done! The will of You.
  6. As in heaven – also on the earth!
  7. The bread of us daily (idiom about the manna of the wilderness) give unto us today.
  8. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive the debtors of ours.
  9. And lead us not into temptation,
  10. but deliver us from the evil.
  11. Because of You is the kingdom and the power and the glory to all the ages (ions).
  12. Amen.

(Matthew 6:9-13 – Author’s translation)

All that I’m writing in this short article is much better explained in full in my book “Change The World with Prayer” available on Amazon. Just click this link to get there or visit our Store on this website.

Beginning with our approach to heaven’s courts in the Presence of our God and Creator of all things, Who is our heavenly Father, we establish this, “Father, of us!”

Our introduction to His Presence with the protocols of His courts. Through the “Spirit of Adoption, whereby we cry out Abba – Father,” we declare our inheritance, loyalty, love, and appreciation for Who He is and who He has destined us to be.

Who is in the heavens,” states not only the location of the courtroom events but also gives the prevailing authority of heavens as the “heights of authority,” meaning there is nothing higher. He has always had jurisdiction in the firmaments, atmospheres, and spiritual places. He is the Creator of them.

These first two demarcations state proper stance of protocol, which has the manifestation of position along with the blessed authority of inheritance. We come into the presence of the King as His child who inherits the fortunes of the great Creator.

“Your name is set/established here as holy.” For, “Your name is Holy and above every other name that is mentioned.” Remember that He is our Father, and thus, His name is given unto us His children and becomes the authority of our inheritance.

Then comes the authoritative declarations showing the jurisdiction and power of command that is given to the child of the King. “Come! Kingdom of God,” and, “Be done! Will of God.”

Once we understand that the Kingdom of God is, in fact, His rule and reign, then we can also see that we are demanding and decreeing from heaven that His dominion becomes manifest upon the earth. Our “demand” is against all circumstances of this world, against all rulership of every realm of this world, and places dominion of the Kingdom of God overall.

We can know the will of God the Father, which is occurring in heaven at all times, is now brought through the veil that separates heaven from earth and is accomplished upon the earth just as in heaven. All this because we “say” – we place our demand upon earth as heirs of the Creator and glorious King.

I have touched on these first demarcations of this powerful teaching that Jesus gave to us concerning the Kingdom of heaven. Still, each demarcation has great depth, whereby many books could be written on each statement.

Herein, we are looking at the beginning demarcations of Yeshua’s teaching on prayer. Other statements of Kingdom dominion upon the earth and our ability to overcome all of the obstacles of circumstances in our lives and the lives of others should be paramount studies. Those who desire to accomplish the spiritual works of prayer, intercession, and Kingdom manifestations of the miracles of God, according to the teachings of Jesus Christ, can find more study in my book on this subject.((Change The World with Prayer, by Wayne C Anderson, is available on Amazon.
