The Intercessory Power of Communion

by

For more than three decades, I’ve been teaching on the revelation of Communion, the Last Supper, the Lord’s Table, or as it is called in the book of Malachi: The Table of the Lord. In a study of the scriptures concerning Communion, one will immediately find that the communion we celebrate as Christians is about the Passover of the Israelites. The supper that the Lord Jesus sat down to eat with His apostles was the Passover meal. He begins His directives concerning that meal with the statement: “I have longed to eat this Passover with you.”

Table Of The Lord – HallelAll of the centuries that the children of Israel obeyed the worshipful feast of Passover was culminated in the Presence of Jesus Christ at that table with His 12 apostles. Jesus was the 13th man at that table, causing the number 13 to be the number of His Presence.

Now, if we are to be the “Ecclesia” – the legislative body of heaven manifested upon the earth – then we really need to get ahold of how powerful this heaven to earth event is in our lives. The courts of heaven are convened at the great and glorious Table of the Lord, that is, the Communion Table. We know this because it’s foundation is the Passover.

The bread and the wine are elements of the eternal work of God the Father rescuing His children from the prince of darkness and the spirit of the world.

Now, in the courts of heaven, the Blood of the Lamb of God, Who is Yeshua the Lord, is the great testimony of supreme innocence from which all justice comes forth. It is presented as actual testimony from the past, the present and the future. This is because the works of Jesus the Messiah are eternal works with no beginning and no end. Therefore, the testimony of the Blood upon the doors of the home in Egypt spoke of innocence on the inside of the house – it meant that there was a Lamb on the inside. It is written, “…having confidence for the entering of the Holy of Holies by the blood of Jesus, which He consecrated for us, a new and living way through the veil; that is, His flesh.” (Hebrews 10:19-20 LITV) Once your faith is declared in the Blood of Jesus Christ, you have entered the “eternals” where the courts of heaven exist.

The judgement of the right hand of the Lord passes over a house if the Blood is testified of. The Blood covering exonerates an entity with that great testimony of innocence. “If I see the Blood, I will Passover you…” is what the Lord spoke to Moses in order that he might inform the children of Israel – the children of God.

This eternal testimony was declared by Jesus, into the courts of heaven when He said, “This is My body which is for you,” and “this cup is the new covenant of My Blood.” This was the new and living way into the “eternals” to be present with Messiah at His table in His courts. From this one earthly incident, the new and living way was set and readied for the Ecclesia of the great King, to operate in the “eternals” and from the courts of heaven.

So, the Lord’s Table is foundational for the New Testament Ecclesia. It was for the first Ecclesia of Acts chapter 2 and beyond. It is foundational for the planting of a new Ecclesia in today’s world and culture and is just as powerful.

Intercession is a word that has legal connotations, as it is an advocate in the courtroom. To intercede is the work of a third person who supports a defendant. It is written that the Holy Spirit is our advocate and speaks for us and with us to the great King and Judge of all creation. “And likewise the Spirit also joins in to help our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes on our behalf with groanings that cannot be uttered. But the One searching the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit because He petitions on behalf of the saints according to God.” (Romans 8:26-27 LITV)

This, however, does not mean that we have nothing to do with the courts of heaven. Some have wrongly assumed that the Holy Spirit is the intercessor and we don’t need to be one. But what this does mean is that we enter the courts of heaven being “one” with the Holy Spirit. It is the power of being one with…

pic-tableofthelordAt the glorious table, Jesus refers to both His body and His Blood as the true testimony of His holy exchange for us at His sacrifice.

Isaiah prophesied,

“He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His wounds we ourselves are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5 LITV

Everything about the Passover has always been an issue of courtroom protocols and justice for the children of God, as well as punishments for the unrighteous and those who manifest the spirit of the world. Passover is another one of the foundational prerequisite laws of heaven that over-rides the circumstances of earth. The Table Of The Lord is an intercessory activity, just as much as it is the communing celebration with the Presence of the Lord. It is written that we are to remember the Lord Who has delivered us out of the slavery of Egypt and that He did so via the power of inheritance through the Passover.

The Table Of The Lord is a courtroom event that will break the power of poverty, the restraints of water spirits and their controls, Leviathan the chief water spirit, and the wicked commerce or greed and the spirit of the world, that controls the children of the Lord.

For instance, it is written,

“The Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians so that they let them have their request. Thus, they plundered the Egyptians.” – Exodus 12:36 NASB

As a result of the justice given to the children of God from Passover (the Table Of The Lord), they were anointed to spoil (plunder) the Egyptians. But, the Lord was not done plundering for He doubled that blessing upon His children by destroying the very spirits which placed the fortunes of the nations into the hands of Pharaoh and the Egyptians.

Song of Songs (Shir haShirim – Song of Solomon) states that the financial blessing of the Lord came upon the children of God when the results of the Passover took place and the double blessing came to them when Pharaoh’s army was drowned in the Red Sea.

“With My mighty steeds that battled Pharaoh’s chariots I revealed that you are My beloved. Your cheeks are lovely with rows of gems, your neck with necklaces, My gifts to you from the splitting sea, by inducing Pharaoh to engage in pursuit, to add circlets of gold to your spangles of silver.” (From the Hebrew Talmudic version – Shir haShirim 1:9)

The effects of Passover have been known for centuries/millennia, according to rabbinical/Talmudic sources. What we must keep in mind, as today’s Ecclesia, is that any reference to the incident at the Red Sea and the parting of its waters will take us to the initial cause which was Passover. Therefore, the Table Of The Lord shows to be the place of issuing the justice from which will cause the breaking of powers and principalities hold over the children of God.

This principle is also applicable to liberating God’s children from the rulership of water spirits and the chief water spirit, Leviathan. The rich earth around the different divisions of waters, seas and water sheds, are the power points for these spirits which take control of the people of God, illegally.

It is written,

“For God is my King of old, who works salvation in the midst of the land. You broke (split) the sea by Your strength; You burst the heads of sea-monsters in the waters. You cracked open the heads of Leviathan; You gave him to be food for the people of the wilderness. You divided the fountain and the torrent; You dried up mighty rivers.” – Psalms 74:12-15 LITV

“For God is my King of old, who works salvation in the midst of the land.”

This refers to the justice of our salvation that comes from the Lord and how we now sit at the table of His Justice in the courts of heaven with Him.

“You broke (split) the sea by Your strength;”

This gives the Ecclesia a spiritual reference to the foundational justice of that was brought about by the Passover setting the people free and anointing them to spoil the Egyptians, but as they left the grasp of Egypt, Pharaoh gave chase and was destroyed by the water spirits on which he relied and worshipped.

“You burst the heads of sea-monsters in the waters.”

The justice of the Lord broke the powers of the water spirits of Egypt so that they could not protect the Egyptians any longer.

“You cracked open the heads of Leviathan;”

The leading water spirit, or the head, is Leviathan, whom Pharaoh was a spirit’s image of, and the Lord dealt with Pharaoh by bursting his inherent link to Pharaoh’s oneness with Leviathan, (Pharaoh’s spirit father).

“You gave him to be food for the people of the wilderness.”

Again, just as it is spoken of in Shir haShirim, the treasures of Egypt that the pride of the Pharaoh carried into this battle were distributed to the children of God as they entered the wilderness.

“You divided the fountain and the torrent; You dried up mighty rivers.” – Psalms 74:12-15 LITV

The Lord is prominent and preeminent over all water spirits who control life by their pride, ego, vanities, and false commerce. But according to Talmudic sources, this also refers to splitting open the rock from which living water flowed. [(verse 15) “You split open fountain and stream. You caused fresh water to flow in the parched wasteland“, as Scripture States (Psalms 18:15) He splits open rocks in the wilderness (Radak; Ibn Ezra).]

The sense that this once again refers to the Rock enters the Ecclesia into the deliverance process for the children of God. Remembering that Jesus said, “Upon this rock I will build my ecclesia, and the gates of hell will not prevail…”

It is important that the Ecclesia of today relate to these foundational approaches to deal with poverty breaking justice. We must see that the beginnings of this power over Leviathan and these terrible water spirits began as the Passover and the testimony in the courts of heaven that the Lamb is the King of all creation and will rule and reign with His children – His inheritance.

There is a lifetime of revelatory understandings that come forth from the Lord’s Table. However, I’d like to show both the pertinence of the justice that prevails at this courtroom event and give a few of the intercessory possibilities that are contained within the acts of taking the bread and wine in the presence of the King.

Please understand that I am not trying to complicate matters of Communion. It is simply so very powerful in its application to our lives as it continually shows that “the gospel is the power of God unto salvation.”
