Covenant – Connect
The Presence of the Holy Spirit is the true essential to life. He has an active desire to connect with each person in the now moments of life. The Holy Spirit’s life is so big that He builds His worlds around each individual person through a love connection. That connection is called covenant.
Poorly founded belief systems obscure the clear voice of the Holy Spirit.
We live in a time where belief systems are constructed traditions of man instead of the heart of the Holy One. There has been preaching upon preaching, dogma upon dogma, theological thesis upon a theological thesis, and the supposed wisdom of the wise obscures that which comes from the heart of God.
Similarly, we have played a group game where we stand in a circle and whisper to the person on our right a secret that no one else in the circle can hear. The person to the right who just listened to the secret then turns to their right and whispers the same. By the time that “secret” gets around the entire circle, you can sometimes barely tell it was anything like the original. So it is in our day when it comes to handling the heart, the mind, and thoughts, the love of the Holy One, and the objects of His affection. Theology is the study about God. But, I want to know Him now in this now moment.
Everyone knows something about God; few know Him as Friend.
Any relationship that you cherish you desire that it be progressive. Cherished relationships should become more profound, broader, more intuitive, entertaining, and down-right meaningful.
The covenant of our God is progressing even now. In fact, it only progresses. It is never done away with, or canceled. It has always progressed from the time of Adam, (Edenic, Adamic, Noahic, Abrahamic, Mosaic, Davidic, Restoration, New, etc.)
When God established His covenant with Adam, He promised the Messiah. When Cain and Able came along, Cain ruined the 1st born image of the Christ. Thus, God gave Noah an even greater covenant that also came with a sign that is still with us today: The Bow in the sky.
“I set My Bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth.” – Genesis 9:13 (NASB)
Yehovah made a greater covenant with Abraham, where the intimacy of faith and righteousness was at its foundation. Israel was given the covenant with the Levitical priesthood at Horeb and then at Moab.
“These are the words of the covenant which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which He made with them in Horeb.”
Deuteronomy 29:1 (NKJV)
If you read Deuteronomy 30:1 – 6, you can hear the voice of Yehovah wanting relationship with Israel, but Israel wanted religious theology – knowing about God instead of knowing Him.
Yehovah’s covenant progressed with David as He promised him an eternal kingdom through his posterity.
New Covenant cannot become a theology, or we will have the same religious mindset of knowing about Christ/Messiah instead of being His Friend.
Of course, much more could be said about the progression of the covenant. There are numerous historical progressions of Yehovah’s covenant with His beloved children. His covenant can be understood as His desired connection with a believer – lover and friend of Christ.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV)
His love has never changed. He is still in love with His “friends.” (John 15:13-15) His connection is becoming more extensive, longer, higher, and more in-depth. Our Father has always meant that His connection (covenant) be an established love relationship so that He might join His world with the individual believer.
“That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.” – Ephesians 3:17-19 (NASB)
